A good day at the Tales today,as ever I thought it was going to be quiet but it was in fact very busy.
I started my first living history just after 11.00am and was surprised at the reception I got there was about 60 people all waiting for me to start.
i started of course in the old traditional way by letting everyone know that Robin Hood was indeed a real person born in the twelfth century and so on.
Then started to let them know about the truth behind the legend.
I won't go into that here because it is a far to long story. Needless to say that when I had finishe d I got a good round of applause which is always nice and then loads of people came up and asked me questions about not knowing this and that and going away with smiles on their faces thinking that they had learned so much about Englands greatest outlaw.
It was pretty much like that for the rest of the day, so as I said a very good day at the Tales.
I do hope that tomorrow is the same. It is always nice to know that 25 years of research has not gone to waste. I am sure that some members of the audience didn't believe a word and still think that Robin was a man who wore a little green hat and tights (thank you Mr Flynn) but thats okay to as long as they enjoy thinking that.

Hello, Mr. Rotherham!
I´m portuguese living in England, for about a year! I´ve recently been to the "Tales of Robin Hood" and enjoyed your presentation very much! I´ve always been a passionate of history and the medieval period in particular!
At one point in your presentation you mentioned a castle that would be worth a visit! You described it as being sieged only once, and that the only way of taking the castle would be by burning it to the ground! I´m not sure if I caught the name right! Do you still remember what castle could it be?
Thanks in advance for your help and for a great presentation last saturday!
but robin hood did where green tights and a pointy hat!! - havent you seen time bandits!! :-)
Last year I went to the "Tales of Robin Hood". Your presentation was the highlight of the whole exhibition! Your dedication to this worthy cause -teaching people the truth behind the legend of Robin Hood- is highly commendable, and the presentation left everyone in the room, myself included, astounded by your meticulous research and the outstanding way in which you presented it. I have always been deeply passionate about history for all fifteen of my years and have grown up watching many interpretations of the legend of Robin Hood -Not the BBC version!-. The world really needs more people who are like you who take extreme lengths of dedication to tell history as it is. I am sure that you have done Robert de Kyme the greatest justice!
lovely comments dad - but were is the next blog? *taps fingers* i am waiting ;-)
